Yes and no. Following the directions of once every two weeks is always safe. It isn't possible to burn the plants, but you do want to allow the plants to absorb nutrients in the soil that overwatering can wash away.
Nope! They have a very mild and earthy scent. Often this also depends on the quality of the castings you purchase. Wormies is pure castings, so the decayed materials that cause the smell are not in our products.
Although the origin of the term isn't easy to find, a biologist I asked for their opinion replied that "castings" is used to denote the quality of the manure and wide spectrum of positive results from using the material in agriculture. It "casts" across a myriad of improvements to soil, plant health, removal of pollution and increase to microbiology. If I find out more on the origins of the term, I'll update this FAQ.
No such thing. Other than adding drainage materials and composted planting for the microbes to grow in, it does not burn your plants.
YES! Granted, we like a mixture of gypsum, coconut coir, and peat moss with our castings in equal portions. There's more in our Blogs and Vlogs! Geaux learn ya somethin cool.
Yes indeed. Keep it so slightly damp and in a bag that gets air. Our garden size bags are often in cloth bags so they breath. There's detailed information in Blogs and Vlogs.
In Louisiana our humidity outside keeps it damp if kept in a shaded clean location. Just keep an eye on it. Live microbes in the Castings will eventually digest the bag they are in!
